Horrible Imaginings Podcast #160: Back from the Grave with a New Home, a Mission, and BONUS Juan of the Dead!

Hello, horror fans, and welcome to our new home here on Dread Central!

For those of you who have been keeping up, I have maintained some podcast silence as we have prepared for our busiest year yet with Horrible Imaginings Year 7, Fabio Frizzi in San Diego, The Terror on the Tenth Art Gallery, several movie screenings, and more. Now that I have been invited to join Dread Central’s Podcast Network, I’ve decided to record this brief podcast as a sort of reflection of the last couple of months, as well as an introduction for those of you who may be new to this show’s format.

Now that the podcast is getting up and running again, I have several new episodes lined up, as well as a semi-regular co-host who will be joining me at the end of the month. Lots to look forward to and discuss! In the meantime, check out some of the podcasts that have given airtime to Horrible Imaginings in the last month or two:

Dread Central’s own Who Goes There Podcast reflects on Horrible Imaginings and The Greasy Strangler along with special guest Jon Condit for their 83rd episode.

Beth Accomando’s Cinema Junkie Podcast did two in-depth looks at the festival’s offerings, as well as a comprehensive look at the musical horror scores of Fabio Frizzi in conjunction with the concert we put on at Brick by Brick in San Diego. Catch her preview of the festival here, her post festival wrap-up here, her look at Fabio Frizzi here, and her delving into the Horrible Imaginings horror literature segments here!

miguel-and-frizziThe TG Geeks were not only sponsors, but also recorded a reflection and a number of interviews for their podcast. Check out their coverage of festival nights one, two, three, four, and five, their wrap-up, and interviews with Horrible Imaginings special guests: composer Eric Elick and Beyond the Gates director Jackson Stewart!

The Cut Speakuence Podcast also discuss their experiences at the 7th annual Horrible Imaginings Film Festival here!

Just to attempt to add some flavor to the show, I also include a recording of my introduction and discussion of the Cuban zomedy Juan of the Dead, which was screened at the University Community Branch of the San Diego Public Library earlier this week. I appreciate their taking a chance on horror for educational purposes and asking me to lead the charge there! If you haven’t seen the movie, watch it now!

Stay tuned for Episode 161, which will be another one of my “Storytime Edition” audiobook-style episodes!
